Midjourney "Relax Mode" time measurement and discussion

I recently started paying $30 ($4,400 at the time) to subscribe to the standard plan.

I have only been a subscriber for about 10 days, but I am generating quite a lot of images.

The standard plan allows unlimited image generation, but if you exceed 900 minutes of image generation time each month, you are forced to switch to relax mode.

Normally, four images are generated in less than one minute in the fast mode, but in the relaxed mode, it might take about 10 minutes. I was working with a sense of dread.

Yesterday, I finally exceeded the 900-minute mark.

An hour before the 900-minute mark, I received frequent messages from the mid-journey bot informing me that I was about to switch to relax mode.

I was prepared for the inconvenience of being in relax mode to the point of warning me so much....

When I tried generating in relax mode, the generation time was almost the same as in fast mode. To be honest, I could not clearly tell the difference in length of generation time between fast mode and relax mode. Maybe it's just my environment, but personally, I had no damage in relax mode.

Measure image generation time in relax mode

We actually tried to generate images in relax mode and measured the time.

An old man sitting on a park bench. Nausicaa of the valley of the wind (relaxed)

The image generation time here is 57.09 seconds, less than one minute.

Next, the lower right picture in the above image is drawn in high resolution (upscale). This is the so-called "U4" button.

The image generation time here was completed in 1 minute and 11 seconds. It probably took about this long even in fast mode.

Finally, a variation is created from the lower right picture of the original image. This is the so-called "V4" button.

The image generation time here is 23.88 seconds, which is less than 30 seconds.

Up to 3 images can be generated simultaneously even in relax mode. No deterioration.

Simultaneous image generation is also possible in relax mode.

As in the fast mode, up to 3 images can be generated at the same time.

Up to 10 images can be generated simultaneously, including queues.

The image size is the same as in the fast mode, and there is no image degradation when images are created in the relaxed mode.

Relax Mode General Comments

So, if you are on the standard plan, you can generate images without fear of switching to the relax mode.

It is fast and can generate up to three images at the same time.

Relax mode is available only for subscribers of the Standard plan and above. Relax Mode is not available with the Free Plan or the $10/month Basic Plan.

If you want to try relax mode right now, you can switch to relax mode by typing the command /relax; if you want to switch back to fast mode, type the command /fast.

PS: Relax mode gets progressively heavier!

It appears that each time an image is generated in relax mode, the output time is gradually extended.

To reset this, one must wait for the next subs update.

The moment the subsk is updated, the heavy relax mode becomes lighter. Generation time will be much faster.

Therefore, if you are generating a large number of images, we recommend that you start out in relax mode and switch to fast mode when relax mode becomes quite heavy.
